About me
Nato e cresciuto a Milano, mi sono avvicinato al mondo della ceramica casualmente, nel 1996, frequentando un corso presso l’Associazione Culturale Pandora di Sorano, in provincia di Grosseto. Fu un’esperienza che mi cambiò la vita. Sotto la guida della mia maestra, artista e ora grande amica, Angela Palmarelli, ho imparato a utilizzare questa materia ribelle e primordiale, l’argilla, e ad avere con lei un rapporto di rispetto, ma anche di complicità. Da buon architetto ho fin da subito iniziato a “progettare” i miei pezzi, ma in essi ho sempre riversato anche una grande dose di istinto e di emozioni che via via, durante la creazione dell’oggetto, scaturivano dalla mia anima. Questa è una caratteristica che ancora mi caratterizza: raramente i miei pezzi sono solo frutto di un progetto a tavolino; l’emozione e i miei stati d’animo hanno sempre un ruolo preponderante, in quello che faccio.
Dopo alcuni anni sempre a sorano sono approdato nel laboratorio di Mara Funghi, grande ceramista e generosa amica, dove ho imparato a raffinare la mia tecnica, gli spessori e le finiture. Ho preso più confidenza con il Raku, con il Bucchero, con il Pit-fire.
Presso il suo laboratorio ho seguito corsi con David Roberts, uno dei più grandi maestri di Raku al mondo, e con Luca Tripaldi, sulla cottura coi Sali metallici.
Da Rita Rolli e Cesare Calandrini a Deruta ho imparato la tecnica di cottura Villanoviana, e ho ulteriormente perfezionato il Bucchero, entrambe tecniche di cottura molto antiche ed estremamente affascinanti.
Ho aperto il mio laboratorio a San Pietro all’Olmo, il mio paese di origine nell’ovest milanese, dove eseguo le mie opere e dove sperimento e ricerco forme e finiture che mi rispecchino, immergendomi ogni volta nella magia dell’argilla, e facendo confluire in essa tutte le mie emozioni, positive e negative, che spero arrivino a tutti coloro che le osservano.
Born and raised in Milan, I approached the world of ceramics by chance, in 1996, attending a course at the Pandora Cultural Association of Sorano, near Grosseto. It was an experience that changed my life. Under the guidance of my teacher, artist and now a great friend, Angela Palmarelli, I learned to use this rebellious and primordial matter, clay, and to have with her a relationship of respect, but also of complicity. As a good architect I immediately started to "design" my pieces, but in them I have always poured a great deal of instinct and emotions that gradually, during the creation of the object, flowed from my soul. This is a characteristic that still characterizes me: my pieces are rarely only the result of a desktop project; the emotion and my moods always have a preponderant role in what I do.
After some years I landed, always in Sorano, in the laboratory of Mara Funghi, great ceramist and generous friend, where I learned to refine my technique, thickness, and finishes. I got more familiar with the Raku, with the Bucchero, with the Pit-fire.
At his laboratory I attended courses with David Roberts, one of the greatest masters of Raku in the world, and with Luca Tripaldi, on cooking with metal salts.
From Rita Rolli and Cesare Calandrini in Deruta I learned the Villanoviana cooking technique, and I further perfected the Bucchero, both very ancient and extremely fascinating techniques.
I opened my workshop in San Pietro all'Olmo, in the west of Milan, where I do my works and where I experiment and research forms and finishes that reflect me, immersing myself every time in the magic of clay, and adding all my emotions, positive and negative, that I hope will reach all those who observe them.
