warm hugs

In questo progetto dalla apparente semplicità formale ho voluto scomporre una forma volumetrica base come il cilindro in due parti per differenziarne sia le altezze che le finiture, venendo di volta in volta a formare vasi, piatti, o ciotole. L’abbinamento del nero affumicato con il bianco corposo e cavillato della cristallina raku, o con lo smalto coppermatt o ancora col pallore materico e segnato della superficie in raku nudo conferisce caratteristiche peculiari alle sfoglie di sezione semicircolare che si “abbracciano” alle estremità pur non confondendosi esternamente. È all’interno che la finitura unica, oltre che per una più facile fruizione, è stata scelta per confondere le divisioni formali e per ricreare visivamente il cilindro intero. Quasi come due individui differenti che abbracciandosi condividono comunque un unico sentimento, come l’amicizia, o l’amore.

In this project with an apparent formal simplicity I wanted to break down a basic volumetric shape such as thecylinder in two parts to differentiate both the heights and the finishes, coming each time to form vases, plates, or bowls. The combination of smoked black with the full-bodied and cavilated white of the raku crystalline, or with the coppermatt glaze or with the marked pallor of the bare raku surface gives peculiar characteristics to the semicircular section sheets that “embrace” at the ends but without merging externally. It is inside that the unique finish, as well as for an easier use, was chosen to confuse the formal divisions and to recreate visually the full cylinder. Almost like two different individuals who embrace each other but share a single feeling, like friendship, or love.
